Booking for Pre-registration Examination for Parallel / Individual Imported Vehicles

It is the responsibility of you to submit adequate documents to demonstrate that the concerned vehicle has fulfilled and complied the statutory requirements in Hong Kong.  You are advised to observe the procedures for importation and registration of Motor Vehicles, Motorcycles and Motor Tricycles prior to arrange the importation of the vehicle(s) into Hong Kong.

Applicant should bear in mind that even his/her application for the pre-registration examination for the vehicle is accepted, the concerned vehicle may still not able to get pass from the pre-registration examination nor registered the vehicle in Hong Kong.  Any loss incurred as a result of being unable to pass in the pre-registration examination nor get the vehicle registered in Hong Kong will be totally at applicant’s own risk.

Fees

The vehicle examination fee varies depending on the type of vehicle, its commercial purpose and the gross vehicle weight.

For those appointments made at Government Vehicle Examination Centres (VECs), please note that your fee will not be refunded if:

  • you cancel your appointment less than 14 days before your appointment date;
  • Incorrect chassis number is submitted and/or confirmed.

Before Starting the Online Booking Process

Before you start the online application process to make a vehicle examination appointment for parallel imported vehicles, you should have the following items ready:

  • Either a credit card (Visa or MasterCard) or a PPS account number and Internet password for payment. Both Visa and MasterCard offer additional security programs to give their cardholders extra protection when they make online payments. You must register in advance with Verified by Visa (VbV) or MasterCard®SecureCodeTM .
  • A printer to print out a hard copy of the acknowledgement page. If you do not have a printer, be sure to write down the e-service reference number.

Booking in Person

You can also book your appointment in person at Transport Department Vehicle Examination Complex (TDVEC) for parallel / individual imported vehicles.

Preparation Before the Examination

  • On the day of your appointment, you will need to take your vehicle to TDVEC. To avoid unnecessary inconvenience, you should have your vehicle checked and repaired as required before your appointment date. You should also ensure that the vehicle is clean and that it has enough fuel and oil.
  • Ensure that the chassis number and engine number stamped on the vehicle is legible.
  • Remove all the under-chassis covers in advance in case of the covers will lead to obstruction at the time of under-chassis inspection.

Documents to Take to Your Appointment

On the day of your appointment, be sure to take your vehicle examination appointment letter, EPD approval / exemption letter, a completed TD22 form, the provisional taxable value (PTV) / published retail price (PRP) list (if applicable) and one of the following validation proof document as stipulates below:

  • A: Certificate of Conformity (CoC);
  • B: Completion Inspection Certificate (CIC);
  • C: Certificate of Transfer;
  • D: Export Certificate;
  • E: Certificate of De-registration / Certificate of Temporary De-registration;
  • F: Certificate of Registration Matters – Present Record;
  • G: Certificate of Registration Matters – Preserved Record; or
  • H: Vehicle Registration Document
