Electronic Notices and Documents

Electronic notices and documents (the Electronic Notices) related to tax return filing, assessment and tax payment will be sent to the Message Box in your eTAX Account.  They are related to Salaries Tax, Property Tax for solely owned properties, Profits Tax for sole proprietorship businesses and Personal Assessment.  Upon your selection, a note will also be sent to your e-mail address to advise you to read such Electronic Notices.  

These Electronic Notices will be retained in the Message Box for 6 years from the date of issue.

Electronic Notices related to Tax Return Filing
Electronic Notices related to tax return filing include:

  • Notice to file Tax Return – Individuals
  • Reminder for filing Tax Return – Individuals

By clicking the links provided in the Electronic Notices, you can read the criteria for Internet filing, file return through the Internet and obtain a paper return if you cannot file the return through the Internet.

Electronic Notices related to Assessment
Electronic Notices related to assessment include:

  • Notice of assessment and demand for tax
  • Notification of revision of assessment
  • Notification of holdover of provisional tax
  • Notification of cancellation of assessment
  • Letter regarding election for personal assessment
  • Letter regarding claim for home loan interest deduction
  • Advice on tax held over upon objection

By clicking the links provided in the Electronic Notices, you can pay tax via electronic means, lodge an objection against and request amendment of an assessment.

Electronic Notices related to Tax Payment
Electronic Notices related to tax payment include:

  • e-Receipts for postal and electronic payments
  • Confirmation of Payment
  • Tax recovery
    (i) Notice of Surcharge for Overdue Tax
    (ii) Reminder for Overdue Tax
    (iii) Advice on Recovery of Tax from a Third Party

Except for the Advice on Recovery of Tax from a Third Party, Electronic Notices for tax recovery contain links to financial institutions to facilitate immediate settlement of overdue tax by electronic means. Alternatively, you can print a payment voucher for payment in person or by post.

Electronic Alert Messages

You will be provided with alert messages for any tax returns or payment due to be filed or made, except where they are related to businesses or properties with more than one owner.

These alert messages will be sent to the Message Box in your eTAX Account.  Upon your selection, a note will also be sent to your e-mail address to advise you to read such messages.

Alert messages will be retained in the Message Box for 6 years from the date of issue.

Alert Message for Filing Tax Return – Individuals
Approximately one week before the return filing due date, you will be provided with an alert message reminding you to file your Tax Return – Individuals. 

By clicking the links (if applicable) provided in the alert message, you can view the electronic notice to file return, read the criteria for Internet filing, file return through the Internet and obtain a paper return if you cannot file the return through the Internet.

Alert Message for Tax Payment
Approximately one week before the payment due date, you will be provided with an alert message reminding you to pay tax. 

By clicking the links provided in the alert message, you can view details of the tax bill and make electronic payment.
