When you decide to terminate the employment contract of your foreign domestic helper, you should notify the Immigration Department within 7 days of the date of termination. This article will tell you how to notify Immigration Department online.
Online Notification to Immigration Department
Under Clause 12 of the Standard Employment Contract (ID407) for a foreign domestic helper, both the employer and the foreign domestic helper shall give the Director of Immigration notice in writing within 7 days of the date of termination. Being either the employer or the foreign domestic helper, you may use this free online service to notify the Immigration Department of such termination.
When a foreign domestic helper’s contract is terminated prematurely, he/she is permitted to remain in Hong Kong for 2 weeks after the termination of contract or the remainder of the permitted stay, whichever is earlier. Helpers who remain in Hong Kong after the permitted period are liable to prosecution. Aiders and abetters are also liable to criminal prosecution.
