Online Application for Entry for Employment in Hong Kong under the General Employment Policy / the Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals (Technical Professionals Stream)

Who can Use this Service

You can use this online service to submit application for entry for employment under the Technical Professionals Stream of the General Employment Policy (GEP) or Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals (ASMTP) in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

This online service is not applicable to extension of stay application from persons admitted for employment under the Technical Professionals Stream of the GEP or ASMTP in Hong Kong.

Quota

All entry visa / entry permit applications made under the Technical Professionals Stream of the GEP and the ASMTP will be subject to quota. The quota will be allocated on first-come-first-served basis. Quota will be deemed secured upon successful submission of an entry visa / permit application by the applicant and his / her employer through the online application system of the Immigration Department. Once the overall quota or the quota of a specific skilled trade is fully utilised, the Immigration Department’s online application system will be temporarily suspended from accepting relevant applications (including those applications temporarily saved in the online application system). The applicant and his / her employing company should fill in the online application form and pay the relevant application fee as soon as possible for completion of the application procedure and allocation of quota.

A. Applicant

  • The applicant's valid travel document containing personal particulars, date of issue, date of expiry and / or details of any re-entry visa held (if applicable). For an applicant who is currently staying in the HKSAR, his / her valid travel document page containing the latest arrival stamp / landing slip / extension of stay label in the HKSAR and the latest issued “e-Visa” (if applicable). A Chinese resident of the Mainland who has not been issued with a travel document may submit his / her People's Republic of China resident identity card.

    • Proof of the applicant’s overseas residence, such as official documents showing the applicant’s conditions of stay and limit of stay endorsed by overseas authorities [for overseas Chinese holding PRC passports only]

C. Each accompanying dependant of an applicant under Technical Professionals Stream

@Submission of the documents is not required if the employing company is listed on the Main Board or the Growth Enterprise Market of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, or has successfully obtained an employment or training visa / entry permit for a non-local staff in the past 24 months immediately before submission of the application.

Please note that in the online application process, the applicant, dependant (if applicable) and authorised person of the employing company will be required to fill in an online application form and sign to confirm that all information given in the online application form is correct, complete and true. If the dependant is under the age of 16 (child dependant), the online application form must be signed by his / her parent or legal guardian.

File Formats

Before uploading the required documents you will need to scan them in one of the following formats:
File type: JPEG, PDF, GIF, PNG or TIF (RAW, LZW, JPEG, CCITT-G4)
File size: 5Mbytes or below for each file
Colour depth: Grayscale (for documents without photos)
                       Colour (for documents with photos)

Payment Method

Application fee shall be paid in the online application process by credit card (VISA, Mastercard, UnionPay and JCB only), Payment by Phone Service (PPS), Faster Payment System (FPS), or Mainland China’s Licensed Digital Wallets (Alipay, WeChat Pay and UnionPay App only). The application fee paid is non-refundable in any circumstances irrespective of the application result.

Please ensure that the information you provide is correct. Incorrect information may render your submission invalid.

Group Submission

If your accompanying dependants are also applying for the visa / entry permit, you can submit their applications with yours as a group. The maximum number of applications that can be submitted in each group is nine. The system will guide you through the steps of providing the personal information of each applicant, and uploading the documents required. If you cannot obtain the online submission acknowledgment at the end of the process, you will have to re-submit the applications.

Supplementary Document Submission

If you have submitted an entry application for entry for employment under GEP / ASMTP (Technical Professionals Stream) in Hong Kong and received a notification letter from the Immigration Department asking you to provide supplementary documents, you can use the online submission service.
