Commercial and goods motor vehicles in Hong Kong must undergo annual vehicle examinations, and all private cars manufactured not less than 6 years before licensing and light goods vehicles with G.V.W not exceeding 1.9 tonnes are required to receive annual examinations at Designated Car Testing Centres before they can be re-licensed, so as to ensure that the vehicles meet Road Traffic Regulations before licence renewal.

Enquiry about Booking Status of Private Cars & Light Goods Vehicles (with Gross Vehicle Weight Not Exceeding 1.9 Tonnes)
You can check the appointment status for private cars and light goods vehicles (with Gross Vehicle Weight not exceeding 1.9 tonnes) at all the Designated Car Testing Centres (DCTCs) online and call the DCTC concerned directly during business hours to make appointment on the available time slot for vehicle examination. Online appointment for the inspection of these two types of vehicles is not available at the moment.
DCTCs only accept appointments for vehicles within 4 months before their licences are due to expire. Preparing Your Vehicle in Advance
On the day of your appointment, you will need to take your vehicle to the DCTC with which you have already made an appointment. To avoid unnecessary inconvenience, you should have your vehicle checked and repaired as required before your appointment date. You should also ensure that the vehicle is clean and that it has enough fuel and oil.
