Booking an appointment to renew your full driving licence is easy with the online service offered by Transport Department. Here you can find out how to use the service, what to take to your appointment and other details of full driving licence renewal.

Holders of full driving licences that will expire in the coming four months and those whose licences have expired within the last three years can use this new service to book an appointment at a nearby Licensing Office to submit licence renewal applications.

Important Notes for Firefox users:

GovHK online services make use of certificates issued by the Hongkong Post but Firefox does not have the Root CA Certificates of Hongkong Post by default. You need to configure your browser to recognise certificates issued by the Hongkong Post. Please see the FAQ ( http://www.gov.hk/en/about/helpdesk/faq/infosec/index.shtml#q3 ) on how to download and install the Hongkong Post Root CA Certificates.

When attending your appointment, you should take the completed application form for full driving licence renewal (TD557) or full driving licence renewal notice cum application form (TD578) and other required documents as set out in TD557 or TD578. The form TD557 can be downloaded from the link provided below, obtained by fax through the Transport Department's customer service hotline at 2804 2600 or fetched in person at one of the Licensing Offices. The form TD578 is generally sent to the driving licence holder by mail two to three months before the expiry date of his/her current licence by Transport Department.

Licence holders aged over 70 must submit the medical examination report forms (TD256) duly completed and signed by registered medical practitioners when they submit their application forms for full driving licence renewal.
