You can make use of this online service to make an appointment for birth registration of your new born babies at the births registry of the district in which the birth occurred to save queuing time. You can make an advance booking of 42 calendar days (excluding Sundays and General Holidays). You can also change, cancel or enquire the appointment you have made. This article will tell you what you should know before using the online booking service.
You can use this service for birth registration within 1 year of the birth of the baby. Please note that a registration fee will be charged if the birth is registered after a period of 42 days but within 1 year.
For registering a birth after 1 year of the birth of the baby, this booking service is not applicable to you. Please apply in person at the Births and Deaths General Register Office as soon as possible.
If you know what supporting documents are required for the birth registration, you can now make your appointment online. Otherwise, please check for the details in the paragraphs below.
Attention: Please confirm with the hospital to ensure that the birth return of your baby has been delivered to the concerned births registry by the hospital before you use the appointment booking service. Otherwise, the appointment booking cannot be processed.
You may at most make an appointment for 3 babies of the same parents. To make an appointment, you need to enter the number of the mother's Hong Kong identity card or travel document, the number of baby(ies) to be registered, the date of birth and place of birth of the baby(ies). You also have to enter a 4-digit enquiry code for subsequent change, cancellation or enquiry about your appointment.
You can select your appointment within the following 42 days*. The result of the booking is subject to the availability of quota of each births registry. You can only make one appointment within the 42-day* period.
When a successful appointment is made and you choose to receive an appointment reminder, an email reminder will be sent to the email address you provided 2 days before the appointment day. You can change your email address or cancel the reminder at latest 3 days before the appointment day.
After an appointment is made, you may change / cancel the appointment at least 1 day before the appointment date. For changing an appointment, the earliest day will be on the next working day* of the date of changing the appointment. In view of the limited appointment quotas, please change or cancel your appointment at least 1 day before the appointment day if you are not able to attend.
* Monday to Saturday (except General Holidays)
