If, after registration of a death from natural causes or the issue of Form 11 from the Coroner for a death from unnatural causes, you need to remove the dead body from Hong Kong for burial, you can approach the relevant death registries to apply for the Permit for Removal of Dead Body from Hong Kong, which is free of charge. You need to complete an application form (Form SF/BDR/3), which is available at the respective death registries, and give information such as the personal particulars of the deceased, as well as when and where the dead body will be removed from Hong Kong. In some cases, you may need to produce evidence that permission to import the dead body into another territory has been obtained before you are issued with the permit.
