Fee

Having received your application, Immigration Department will check the application form and all the supporting documents. You will be contacted to pay for the prescribed fee afterwards or provide supplementary documents (if necessary).

The application fee is HK$3,460. The applicant is required to pay an initial fee of HK$1,730 at the time of application, and the balance of the application fee will be collected upon issue of the certificate of naturalisation subject to the proof of not retaining his/her foreign nationality. However, the collection of fee does not constitute any guarantee or assurance that his/her application will be approved.

If the applicant pays by cheque or bank draft, it should be crossed and made payable to “The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region”. If the applicant selects to make the payment by post of cheque or bank draft, the cheque or bank draft should be drawn on a bank in the HKSAR in HK or US Dollars (HK$1,730 or US$222). If the cheque or bank draft is not drawn on a bank in the HKSAR or not in HKSAR currency, the applicant should also include a bank handling charge of HK$100 (or US$13) in the same cheque or bank draft. No cash should be sent.

Alternatively, the applicant may nominate a local referee to pay the fee on his/her behalf after receiving notification from the Immigration Department.

The initial fee of HK$1,730 is non-refundable in all circumstances.
