GREEN@COMMUNITY
The Environmental Protection Department has been continuously developing the new community recycling network, namely GREEN@COMMUNITY, which comprises Recycling Stations, Recycling Stores and Recycling Spots with services covering all 18 districts across the territory. The community recycling network has more than 500 public collection points for paper, metals, plastics, glass bottles, rechargeable batteries, fluorescent lamps and tubes, regulated electrical equipment, small electrical appliances and beverage cartons. In addition to supporting community recycling, various environmental education and promotional activities would also be organized to instil a green lifestyle into the community.
GREEN$ Electronic Participation Incentive Scheme
To facilitate and encourage the public to use the community recycling facilities, the EPD introduced GREEN$ (Greeny Coins) smart card and GREEN$ mobile app respectively on 16 November 2020 and 6 January 2022, for the public to earn electronic bonus points and redeem gift items. By showing the QR code in the GREEN$ mobile app or the GREEN$ smart card (or the QR code image printed on the back of the card) in submission of recyclables at any of the GREEN@COMMUNITY public collection points, the public can earn GREEN$ for redemption of gift items.
