Data Access Request under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance
Under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, an individual, or a relevant person on behalf of an individual, may make a request (a) to be informed by a data user whether the data user holds personal data of which you are the data subject; (b) if the data user holds such data, to be supplied by the data user with a copy of such data. You may make the request to the Immigration Department online here. You may also make the request on behalf of another person with proper authorisation of that person.

If you wish to make a data access request on behalf of other person, please submit a written authorisation of that person. You may be required to provide proof of relationship with the data subject, e.g. marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc.
You may be required to provide additional information and/or document for your application.
Acceptable file formats of required documents:
Image type : JPEG, PDF, GIF, PNG or TIF (RAW, LZW, JPEG, CCIT-G4)
File size : 5Mbytes or below for each file
Fees
A charge will be made to cover the cost of photocopying documents to be supplied at the standard photocopying charge per photocopy unless otherwise provided by enactment or approved by the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury. You will be advised of such charge before collection of the requested documents.
Payment Method
A written notification for payment will be sent to you after processing your request. You could pay through FPS, PPS, Mainland China’s Licensed Digital Wallets (Alipay, WeChat Pay and UnionPay App only) or by credit card (VISA, MasterCard, UnionPay and JCB only) through the webpage link provided in the written notification by entering the application reference number. You can also make payment by sending crossed cheque or cashier order payable to “The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region”. Cash should not be sent through post.
Processing Time
The information requested will be made available within 40 days after receipt of your request.
