Proposed Updates to Safety Standards for Toys and Children’s Product

Brief Description :

We plan to adopt up-to-date safety standards promulgated by the relevant standards institutions for toys and some children’s products listed in Schedule 2 (Schedule 2 products) under the Toys and Children’s Products Safety Ordinance (Cap. 424) (the “Ordinance”).

How the major Business Group(s) will be affected by the new regulations/ administrative measures and procedures under consultation:

No person shall manufacture, import or supply toys or Schedule 2 products unless the toys and Schedule 2 products comply with all the applicable requirements contained in any one of the safety standards specified in Schedules 1 and 2 respectively to the Ordinance.

Toys and Schedule 2 products concerned supplied in Hong Kong must comply with the up-to-date safety standards upon their adoption, so as to protect child safety.

Supply of Recycled Water in Hong Kong

Brief Description :

In order to ensure water security and sustainable development in Hong Kong in the face of climate change, the Water Supplies Department (WSD) is exploring new water resources that are not susceptible to climate changes. The WSD plans to supply recycled water in full scale and is formulating the proposal on the supply, charge and use of recycled water in Hong Kong including legislative amendments under Waterworks Ordinance (Cap. 102) and Waterworks Regulations (Cap. 102A). This consultation is aimed at inviting public views on the proposal.
