Online Application for Extension of Stay (for Persons Admitted under the New Capital Investment Entrant Scheme or Their Dependants)

Who Can Use This Service

You can use the online service to submit your extension of stay application if you are a person admitted under the New Capital Investment Entrant Scheme (New CIES) or his/her dependants.

However, you are not eligible to use the service if:

(1)

you are not physically present in Hong Kong at the time of submission;

(2)

you will not be physically present in Hong Kong at the time of collection of your “e-Visa”;

(3)

you are on visitor status;

(4)

your remaining limit of stay is more than 3 months;

(5)

your limit of stay has expired;

(6)

your travel document will expire in 3 months; or

(7)

you need to depart Hong Kong and will not return before the expiry of your limit of stay.

Documents to be Submitted Online

The documents you need to submit with your online application will depend on your current immigration status. Documents marked with * are mandatory.

Entrants admitted under New CIES

  • *Certifying Proof for Fulfillment of Portfolio Maintenance Requirements issued by InvestHK Note1

  • Proof of the applicant’s permanent resident status in a foreign country. The applicant should provide official documents showing the applicant's permanent residence endorsed by overseas authorities (e.g. an official letter issued by the immigration authority / consulate of the relevant foreign country). [for PRC passport holders who have obtained overseas permanent residence only]

Note 1: The entrant and his/her dependants, where any, are required to submit an application for extension of stay to ImmD before expiry of their limit of stay, notwithstanding the relevant certifying proof may have not yet been secured from InvestHK. Depending on whether the entrant subsequently submits the valid certifying proof to ImmD, which will in turn continue making assessment on the applicant’s extension of stay application.

  • *The sponsor’s Hong Kong identity card, the sponsor’s valid travel document and, where applicable, his/her previous travel document showing the latest arrival stamp/landing slip/“e-Visa” (if applicable) in the HKSAR

Please note that in the online application process, the applicant and the dependant(s) (if any) will be required to fill in an online application form and sign to confirm that all information given in the online application form is correct, complete and true. If the dependant is under the age of 16 (child dependant), the online application form must be signed by his/her parent or legal guardian.

File Formats

Before uploading the required documents, you will need to scan them in one of the following formats:

File type: JPEG, PDF, GIF, PNG or TIF (RAW, LZW, JPEG, CCITT-G4)

File size: 5Mbytes or below for each file

Colour depth: Grayscale (for documents without photos)
                       Colour (for documents with photos)

Payment Method

Application fee shall be paid in the online application process by credit card (VISA, Mastercard, UnionPay and JCB only), Payment by Phone Service (PPS), Faster Payment System (FPS), or Mainland China’s Licensed Digital Wallets (Alipay, WeChat Pay and UnionPay App only). The application fee paid is non-refundable in any circumstances irrespective of the application result.

Please ensure that the information you provide is correct. Incorrect information may render your submission invalid.

Group Submission

If your accompanying dependants are also applying for extensions of stay, you can submit their applications with yours as a group. The maximum number of applications that can be submitted in each group is nine. The system will guide you through the steps of providing the personal information of each applicant, and uploading the documents required. If you cannot obtain the online submission acknowledgment at the end of the process, you will have to re-submit the applications.

Supplementary Document Submission

If you have applied for an extension of stay online through GovHK and received a notification letter from the Immigration Department asking you to provide supplementary documents, you can use the online submission service.
