Arts Festivals
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) organises and supports a range of festivals. The most notable ones include the International Arts Carnival, New Vision Arts Festival, Chinese Opera Festival and Hong Kong Arts Festival.
International Arts Carnival
The annual summer festival International Arts Carnival is a tailor-made arts festival for children and families. Featuring various groups of outstanding overseas and local artists each year, the Carnival presents fun-filled performing arts covering dance, musical, drama, puppetry, music, interactive exhibition and multimedia performance to widen the audience’s artistic vision and induce children’s infinite imagination wherever they are in or out of the theatres. The Carnival lines up a wide variety of extension activities, including online programmes, workshops and exhibitions. It also includes parent-child activities organised by LCSD-managed museums and libraries over the summer.

Presented by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the annual autumn festival “Asia+ Festival”(Asia+) celebrates the cultural diversity of Asia and the Belt and Road regions, showcasing their unique arts and cultures. With the support of consulates and overseas cultural organisations in Hong Kong, Asia+ is a testament to the endless possibilities of cultural collaborations through a variety of events, including stage performances, exhibitions, outdoor carnival and film screenings featuring top-notch artists and troupes. This year, Asia+ will be held from September to November.

Since 2010, the annual Chinese Opera Festival has showcased the various styles and techniques of traditional repertoires, as well as the excellence of creative new productions.
The Festival also features a variety of extension activities such as talks, demonstrations, meet-the-artists sessions, screenings of Chinese opera films and exhibitions, to help the public gain a better understanding of and appreciation for Chinese operatic arts.

The Hong Kong Arts Festival, organised by Hong Kong Arts Festival Society, is a major international arts festival committed to enriching the cultural life of the city by presenting leading local and international artists in all genres of the performing arts as well as a diverse range of Festival PLUS and educational events in February and March each year. Since 1973, the Festival has presented top international artists and ensembles across multiple genres – from music, opera, Chinese opera and ballet to break dance and experimental theatre. Over the years, the Festival has commissioned and produced over 250 local productions across genres including theatre, chamber opera, music and contemporary dance – many with successful subsequent performances in Hong Kong and overseas.

Presented by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and organised by the Chinese Culture Promotion Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Chinese Culture Festival aims to enhance the public's appreciation of Chinese culture and cultivate citizens' national identity and cultural confidence. The Chinese Culture Festival will be held from June to September annually featuring a dazzling array of programmes including a fine selection of programmes of the Chinese Opera Festival, exemplary local arts projects recognised by the China National Arts Fund, performing arts programmes in collaboration with local arts and cultural organisations, film screenings, exhibitions, talks and more. The Festival aspires to promote exchanges between different regions and cultural sectors, encourage integration and show everyone the glorious and magnificent world of Chinese arts and culture.
