Wireless Network Setup Guide for GovWiFi - Windows XP SP2


Encrypted Connection (freegovwifi-e) Settings
- Under the "Association" tab, type "freegovwifi-e" in the "Network Name (SSID)".
- Ensure "Network Authentication" is "WPA2" and "Data encryption" is "AES". (Or "Network Authentication" is "WPA" and "Data encryption" is "TKIP").
Or
- Under the "Authentication" tab, select "Protected EAP (PEAP)" in "EAP type".
- Un-tick:
- "Authenticate as computer when computer information is available".
- "Authenticate as guest when user or computer information is unavailable".
- Click "Properties".
- Tick "Validate server certificate".
- Un-tick "Connect to these servers".
- Select "Thawte Premium Server CA" in "Trusted Root Certification Authorities".
- Select "Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)" in "Select Authentication Method".
- Press "Configure".
- Un-tick "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any)".
- Press "OK" to finish the settings.
Unencrypted Connection (freegovwifi) Settings
- Under the "Association" tab, type "freegovwifi" in the Network Name (SSID).
- Ensure Network Authentication is "Open" and Data Encryption is "Disabled".
- Press "OK".

Encrypted
- Select "freegovwifi-e".
- Click "Connect" for encrypted connection.
- Click on the message box to pop-up the "Enter Credentials" window. (This message box will only show on first time use.)
- In the "Enter Credentials" window, enter "govwifi" (without the double quotes) in both "User name" and "Password". (Leave the "Logon domain" blank.)
- Click "OK".
Unencrypted
- Select "freegovwifi".
- Click "Connect" for unencrypted connection.
