The Grand Parade in Celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China and East Asian Games "The Grand Parade in Celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China and East Asian Games" was held on 18 October 2009. Some 3,500 people from over 60 district groups participated in the grand parade to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the PRC and Hong Kong's hosting of the East Asian Games (EAG). A kick-off ceremony was held at the open space near the junction of Sheung Yee Road and Wang Chiu Road in Kowloon Bay at 1:00pm. After that, the parade teams, led by 30 vintage cars, Harley motorcycles and rickshaws, set off at Sheung Yee Road and toured along Ngau Tau Kok Road as well as many locations and roads with heavy pedestrian flow. The parade ended at Yue Man Square Rest Garden. Members of the public were all attracted to share the happiness of celebrating the National Day and Hong Kong's Hosting of EAG.

Performances dressed up in Chinese ethnic costumes put on a rich variety of performances including dragon and lion dances, Chinese ethnic dances, demonstrations in Chinese Kung Fu and Tai Chi, performances in artistic cycling and roller skating. The performances served to showcase the solidarity of the Chinese nation and pool residents together in celebrating these two great occasions. The grand parade lasted for about two hours and some 10,000 spectators enjoyed the hilarious and thrilling performances of the parade teams.

The Grand Parade of the Hong Kong Youth Consortium for Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China The Grand Parade of the Hong Kong Youth Consortium for Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China, co-organised by the Hong Kong Youth Consortium for the 60th National Celebration and the Home Affairs Bureau, was held on the afternoon of 3 October 2009, Saturday. The Parade started at Canton Road with a ceremony displaying the world's largest Chinese national flag specially brought from Beijing by the Consortium. Over 10 000 local youth representatives, including members of youth uniformed groups, university, secondary and primary school students, performers of the Hong Kong Disneyland's Parade and representatives from the 18 districts and the co-organising groups, took part in the Parade. They were filled with excitement and joy and gave their blessings at the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the PRC. Their march, songs and dances, instrumental performance, dragon and lion dances and their enthusiasm filled everyone and everywhere with the joy of celebration as the Parade passed through the city centre.

Wan Chai District Sea, Land and Sky Grand Parade in Celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China The "Youthful China" Gala Show of the Hong Kong Youth Consortium for Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China was held at the Hong Kong Coliseum in Hung Hom at 5:00 pm on 3 October 2009. It was co-organised by the Hong Kong Youth Consortium for the 60th National Celebration and the Home Affairs Bureau and jointly produced by China Central Television, Southern Media Corporation and Radio Television Hong Kong. The day was also the Mid-Autumn Festival. The artistic and cultural performances depicting a young and energetic China celebrated not only the Anniversary but also the joy of a festival of union and harmony.

Wan Chai District Sea, Land and Sky Grand Parade in Celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China

Wan Chai District Sea, Land and Sky Grand Parade in Celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China "Wan Chai District Sea, Land and Sky Grand Parade in Celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China" was held on 27 September (Sunday) afternoon at Golden Bauhinia Square and the harbour area in front of it. The event was jointly organised by the Wan Chai District Council and Wan Chai District Office, and sponsored by the Wan Chai District Council. Some 1000 people participated in the performance and parade to show the vitality of Wan Chai and celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC with the public on that day.

The opening ceremony was held at 3:00pm. Mr. MAK Chai-kwong, JP, Permanent Secretary for Development (Works) and Mr. WU Yang-wei, Director General of Hong Kong Island Sub-office of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR officiated at the ceremony. The half-hour grand parade was then started at around 3:15pm. About 10 vessels including a fire boat, a Chinese sail boat "Adventure Ship", a Star Ferry and yachts from the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club took part in the sea parade off the Square. Four helicopters from the Government Flying Service and Heliservices (HK) Limited, the leading one displaying the National Flag, had a fly-past over the Square. Besides, about 300 district personalities and representatives from the uniformed groups joined the land parade at the Square and the nearby waterfront area, waving the National and HKSAR Flags. After the parade, some artists and performers from 14 district groups staged a variety show comprising magic show, singing and dancing, lion dances as well as martial arts performances. Besides, ten vintage cars were displayed as well as gamebooths were set up at the Square. Thousands of members of the public were attracted to the Square and the promenade in the vicinity to share the joyful atmosphere.
