Since the founding of the People's Republic of China 60 years ago, our nation has achieved remarkable success in its development. Hong Kong is proud to have played a role in our nation's social and economic advancement.

Under the principle of "One Country, Two Systems", Hong Kong has forged stronger bonds with our Motherland, while maintaining our city's unique characteristics and position as an international hub in Asia for finance, trade, logistics and tourism. With the indomitable "can do" spirit of our people, our city will continue to contribute to a bright and prosperous future for our nation.

To commemorate the 60th Anniversary, the SAR Government has organised a variety of celebratory activities including exhibitions, youth exchange programmes, community activities and cultural and sports events. Apart from bringing a lot of fun, these activities will help foster a deeper understanding of the progress and achievements of our nation.

Young people are our future; it is of utmost importance to nurture their sense of national identity. The 60th Anniversary exchange programmes to the Mainland will give our youngsters an opportunity to experience the developments of our nation and enhance their knowledge about different ethnic groups in different parts of our country.

The 60th Anniversary is a joyous occasion for our entire nation. Through the exciting programme of events highlighted in this calendar, I am sure it will be a memorable time for all of us.
