Application for Liquor Licence
The Review of Liquor Licence was completed in mid 2007. Short- and medium-term recommendations were made to improve the situation under the existing legislative regime.
Most recommendations have been implemented. Significant result is recorded. The application time has been shortened from 40 to 31 working days (25%) for non-contested cases. For contested cases, application time of closed-door hearing cases has been shortened from 50 to 40 working days whereas that for open hearing cases has been shortened from 57 to 45 working days. There is an even more remarkable improvement in respect of Club Liquor Licence: the application time for non-contested cases has been reduced from 96 to 38 working days (by about 60%) and that for open hearing cases from 112 to 60-plus working days.
