Collection of HKSAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes

For Applicants 16 years of Age or Above

In person

If you submit the application by post or through a drop-in box, you are required to collect your Doc/I in person at the selected office. Please produce the original copies of those documents submitted in the application for verification.

Authorisation

If you submitted your application in person, you may authorise a representative to collect your Doc/I in writing with authorisation form ID678. Your signature on the authorisation must be the same as that on the application form.

For Children Under 16 Years of Age

In person

For applications submitted by post or through a drop-in box, the child must attend the selected office in person and should be accompanied by you or a representative authorised by you in writing (authorisation form ID678). The original copies of those documents submitted in the application must be produced for verification. Your signature in the authorisation should be the same as that on the application form.

Authorisation

If you submit the application in person with the child, you may authorise a representative to collect the child's Doc/I in writing with authorisation form ID678. Your signature on the authorisation must be the same as that on the application form.

Delivery to Overseas Applicants

Submitted Through Chinese Diplomatic and Consular Missions

If you submit your and your child's application through Chinese Diplomatic and Consular Missions overseas, the Doc/I will be delivered to that Chinese Diplomatic and Consular Missions by double registered airmail or express dispatch service. You or your child is required to collect the Doc/I in person and produce the originals of the supporting documents for verification. For a child's application, the child must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The availability of mail service varies by country.

You should produce your or your child's previous Doc/I for cancellation if you or your child is applying for a replacement.

Submitted Directly to the Immigration Department

If you submit your or your child's application by mail to the Immigration Department from overseas, the Department will mail you a notification of the date and office for the collection of the Doc/I. You and your child will have to collect the Doc/I in person at the Travel Documents (Issue) Section of the Immigration Department and produce the originals of the supporting documents for verification.

For your child's application, your child must be accompanied by you or your representative to collect the Doc/I. In the latter case, authorisation must be given in writing on an authorisation form (Form ID 678). The authorised person must be at least 18 years of age and must produce his or her valid proof of identity, e.g. Hong Kong identity card, passport or Hong Kong Re-entry Permit for identification. The signature on the authorisation form must be the same as that of the applicant on the application form. The acceptance of your authorisation does not preclude the possibility that you may be required to attend in person.

Your representative must produce the originals of the supporting documents for verification. He or she will also have to produce the collection notice.

If you or your child is requesting a replacement Doc/I, the previous Doc/I should be produced for cancellation upon collection of the new Doc/I.

Collect your HKSAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes at the Immigration Office in Hong Kong

(Except Submitted Through Chinese Diplomatic and Consular Missions or the Registration of Persons - Kowloon Office)

On the collection day, please present the Collection Notice issued by Hong Kong Immigration Department at the Reception Counter or Self-service Tag Kiosk installed at the office for a tag for collecting your / your child's Doc/I (Note : Self-service Tag Kiosk is not installed at Fo Tan Office and Yuen Long Office at the moment).  To shorten your queuing time, please make an appointment booking through the Internet ( www.gov.hk/tdbooking ( http://www.gov.hk/tdbooking )) or by phone (2598 0888) to collect your / your child new Doc/I.  Applicants who have not made an appointment booking will be served in accordance with the walk-in quota system, on first-come-first-served basis until the quota is full.
